fLaShBacKs

History. Everyone has one. No two persons' history would be the same. I grew up in a 'Kampong' at the Old Singapore Turf Club. In fact, I was even born right there at home. I completed Pri Sch at SCPS and was surrounded by many expats' kids. Frens consisted of those from Indonesia (we even had Indonesia VS S'pore Zero Point friendly game), Australia, South Africa, Thailand and even Russia. Yes! I rem that tall slanky blonde girl by the name of Olga. And I'm not exaggerating a single bit. hEE! What's the value of money to kids back then?? We spent our recess playing zero point, police and thief, Pepsi Cola. Celebrated bdays with huge yummy expensive cakes, went swimming at a friend's bungalow's pool and visited those private houses in along Chancery Lane.

I believe that my chdhd was not that common becos we were staying at Dad's Quarters apartment. It's just like a two-room flat. And the cons wld be it's quite deep in and no public buses cld reach so we had to walk at least 15mins to reach home. Nvm that we wld take that long to reach but the path wld be very freaky at night as there'd not much traffic and HUGE leafy trees lined the way. So whenever possible, we wld ask Dad to wait for us at the main gate with his bicycle. Another disadvantage wld be the non-availability of Home lines. Everytime I was asked for Home Contact No. for school, I wld sheepishly provide my Dad's Office at the Union no. instead. Or sometimes I wld simply said we had none. And of course I did rem clearly the one and only public phone (those bulky one in orange using only 10cent coins) outside the canteen. One cld find a short queue almost everynight.

I was browsing thru an old chdhd fren's albums and found these pics! My eyes widened and I cld searched for my unit. Surprisingly, I found it easily and flashbacks came on instantly. I spent most of my growing up (the years I cld rem fondly) in this Blk 4.

In fact, if you looked closely, the 4th unit from the left on the highest storey was my house! You bet there was no lifts around and that's probably why I was skinny when younger. hEE! And what's worst, sometimes there wld be blackouts and it was NO fun running up the stairs in complete darkness just to reach home at night.

This is the front view which I thot had changed tremendously. I do not rem the main road to be that close to our blk. And there was no green fence back then. On the other end of the blk was the swimming pool for the horses. We wld sometimes hung out there watching those horses swim in the afternoon sun. BliSS! Where else wld u be given the opportunity to grow up in this environment??

And there was no basketball court at the back. In fact, there used to be a Badminton court and the guys wld use it for Sepak Takraw instead in the evenings. Oh and I did rem that Bryan Adam, Rod Stewart and Sting performed at the tracks and we cld hear their songs clearly.

I'm blessed to be able to grow up in such a place and thanked God for the wonderful pple I met throughout my life so far. Altho we're not very much in touch now but I felt glad for FB to be able to trace them back. :)

So what's your History? ♥

A bLue bLue mOnDaY..nOt

It was a lil draggy (as usual) t0day. Despite having sufficient slp, I was still slpy. Enjoyed the race @ home with Dad. Kept counting how many cars got retrieved. And of course some of the highlights include Hammie throwing off his steering in disgust after striking with Webber while Kov was coolly extinguishing his own machine on wild fire. Was thinking why he skipped the pit stop instead but he was rather concerned of stopping somewhere far from the crowd to prevent mass injury.
Now that's What I wld call SPORTMANSHIP! ♥
I didn't realise what time sis got home cos I thot she wld be catching Mariah's performance as well. Woke up to find a Ferrari bear (still in plastic) next to me!

yAy! LOVES it!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥
But on second look, the bear looks like it came from 7-11.
Anyways, it's probably my MOST ex bear, beating my HUGE bear price from IKEA. hEE
And Mom forbids me from tearing away the plastic. (^.^)"

On another note, sHortY bot me the flOur which she used for her YuMMy chicks!
Can't wait to powder my chicks with them but seriously, I've nvr seen such fLour mix before.

BeautiFuL wEEkEnD

What makes my weekend splendid?
Planned for Nian to come over my place on Sat but we changed the plans and I met her at WM instead. Whereby I had my PASTAMANIA (oh YAY!) and we had a lil FUN doing her project.

After Pastamania, we moved to MacD and she had a large Cafe while she bot me a HUGE double choc. tSk! Then we cut and paster and cut and paste and TADA!

tHe sweet Results! Nah. We weren't the ones drawing and coloring those desserts.
But we simply 'laminate' them with PVC sheets and big tapes. hEE!

Watching a movie wasn't part of our plan for that day. But yeah.
We watched WaLL stReeT!
IF ONLY I cld have dates with SHIA on every other weekend.♥♥

And a typical Boring Sunday was brightened up with bf-ing with mR gee.
We dropped by Teck Whye to grab my bowl at the fish shop
(almost puked at the smell of all the tiny birds' poo) and walked home. hEE!

But for now I'm all GEARED up for the Race Night!

JaLan RaYe twO tHousanD teN

Our Jalan Raye this yr didn't take much of a planning. In fact it was only decided one or two wks ago. Nevertheless, it was still very Kecoh. Becos it began with sHorTy forgetting to bring along her heeLs to work. Nvm about that cos she so smangat to go all the way back to Wdlands to grab them. Unfortunately, she was locked out cos no one was home. hEE! And but no worries, she still managed a GOLD heeLs afterall. ;p

So lemme try to recount. We started with Nur's house first as she was nearest at Pioneer.
We even got ready at in her pinkie room. Then had a Special Spags done by her Mummy.
A fusion of West and East. Something like Sambal Prawn Spags!
POWER!

The first few snaps at Nur's room.
Wondered why we naturally posed like Steps on a Staircase. Haha!

And a I-dunno-what-to-pose Pose!

sHorty can't even stopped eating for the cam! AiyoS.

Nur has two cats, Chom2 and Gegerl! Can u believe it that upon hearing me coming, Chom2 looked down and flashed to Nur's Mummy's room? Now I know y they say "Malu2 Kucing."
But this is the first time I saw a Scaredy Cat.
Hee! How Cute!
mR gEE shd've come along!

Then we moved to sYiQ's place at Tmn Jurong.
Cik Minah (Mom's sec sch mate) cooked aplenty.
She claimed cos I was coming. So we found Laksa Goreng, Beef Steak and Roti Tirai. gulps!

And YES! My house was next!
Mom served Macaroni soup.
And since it was past 9, we quickly made our way to sHorty's place.

Had Mee Hoon Mama style and Yummy fried Chicken!
Almost pancit aft that F1 retired cab driver's ride.

Before we parted our ways, had some unglamour shots at the void deck.

sHorty was at a ermmm WEIRD ht next to me.
So here I was trying to defend myself.

And finally with Nur. Tak habis2 with her Lentik!

Thanks Babes for the FUN raye! Hope to do it agan next year! ♥

haPPy bDaY tO U

We rushed like mad walking briskier than ever. Hoping to be the first to reach Swensens at HV.
SyiQ even got to write the card at traffic lights. Hee. But after all that mad rush, we found him sitting in front of Swensens calmly. But who doesn't know that he's OH SO ANXIOUS behind all coolness. CHEY!

Made this card especially for him.
Ironically, after I was done, he gave me 2 miss calls. FreAky!

Searched for his PERFECT photo but cldn't find any.
So printed out this muffin instead!

Partner, posing with the BUNCH of flowers plus his presie!

tHe first few snaps we took upon settling down in Swensens.

Songe, I really think PINK suits you BEST!
See! You looked so MUCH brighter here...

A groupie pic before sending his 'beloved' gfs home via Londa. hEE!

miDweeK!!!!

No doubt it's been visiting after visiting after visiting over the last weekend. On Sat we covered Northeast area while on Sunday, managed to complete the North area. Bro even got the time to drop by Adam Rd just to buy his Papaya milkshake. tSk!
More PICS!!

Obek's cucu. Whose uncle is Daly from Ahli Fiqir.
Initially she was shy and kept staring at me with her big round eyes.
Eventually she sat next to me and wanted me to play with her doll as well as her Batman vehicle. Yup. Batman vehicle. Weird combo.
But I LOVE her curls!! Curlier than mine when I was a kid.
Meet my new lil bro. UPIN! Hee.
Dunno y became the craze of the locals this Raya.

At Marsiling, Obek's 11th storey corridor overlooking Customs and JB.

Sis helped to tie up a bun for me.
But I had no confidence in keeping it up till end of the day.

So decided to let it all down.

bLeSSeD 1st syaWaL 2010

Alhamdulillah. First Syawal, I felt blessed. With lesser houses to visit on the 1st day, managed to squeeze mR gEE's visit. Felt weird cos the BF coming over on 1st Day of Raya is definitely out of the qn. Furthermore, it's the first Meet-the-Parents session for him. I must admit though that since my family knows his already, that did help much for easier introduction. :)

Anyways, here's the shots for Raya 2010.

I will try to make it a pt to take a family shot every year.
And IF not of mutiple shots to be taken, this yr we took only one shot NOT after the Canon came rolling off the chair. hAhA! We used self-timer of cos. hEE.
And no. My family will NVR ever wear the same color for Raya. :)

Me and sis with our sister cousins.
Thanks to FB, we're much closer now than before. :)

This is comical becos Sis wanted to take a pic of us three!
But somehow she managed to ONLY snap Bro and me Perfectly.
Better try next time Sis! ;p

mR gEE had planned to come over my place waaaaay before Ramadhan starts.
I have no idea which day exactly (cos of his shift work, school and the high probability of him clashing with my cousins visit).
But he was so ya-ya in visiting on the 1st day. tSk tSk.
But thankfully we ended early somehow and so he did come on the 1st Day Raya for our 1st Syawal tog. hEE. ♥

tO aLL muslim frenS, SeLamAt HarI raYa aIdiLfitri!
MaaP zahiR and BatiN ye. :)

it'S aLL about tHe mOneY

I can't believe my eyeS when I saw the blue note at the rd shoulder of KJE. My eyes instantlY widened in tHe morninG, wakInG my slpy minD up.
I was thinKinG who cld have dropped it at such a plaCe. As the next morNinG came and my uncLe went by the same spot, I sat up straigHt and looked out of the window attentively.
Remembering that it rained last nite, the note wld have been elsewhere or picked up by otherS.
Nvr did I expect it to stiLl be at the same spot, with Yusof Ishak's face staring back at me.
I thOt for some time and decided to sms Bro.. Since he's got a bike.

When the sun almoSt set, he finally reacHed home, chucked his work bag aside and off we go. Swiftly we were near the spot but Bro went too fast and I guessed I've misseD it.
We had to go all the way to corporation to make a Uturn. And bro decided to make anotheR trip. ThIs time he rode way slower.
Our EYes were fixed on the graSS patch at the rd shouldeR whicH was fiLLed with trash like tissue, cig box and such.
ThEn I spotted ONE! Quickly bro asked me to jump off the bike and get bacK.. He continued riding on slowly when I spotted anotheR!
WOW! TWO in totaL! What LucK!! Anyways, in the end we were late foR breaK-fasT but that didn't stop daD from griNNinG. Hee!
And both times when i got off the bike to grab the notes, Bro was consistently checking out his bike. When we reached home, he said he acted like his bike got prob. HaHa!
Despite the two rounds of KJE on that pathetic bike, I thot it's woRth the trip!! :)

CraSheD cOurSe

So much for no events over the wkend. When Friday came, I finally got the chance to break-fast outside again after almost one wk of eating at home. Went to Pizza Hut Lucky Plaza and definitely wld be the last Pizza Hut outlet to go to and that is IF you have no other choice like me. We went to Tangs and Ctrpoint to grab Boss' presie.

Ordered the Hut's Platter since Partner nvr had it before. :)

SyiQ and her Salad..tSk

My Basil Crayfish which is incomparable to the one at Swensens.
Don't even think of trying it.
Such a shame...hEE.

When Sat came, Mom and I were busy doing the cili2. We did the white one first followed by the rose pink BUT when we came to the Green ones, sadly it didn't turn out well and we had to throw them instead. Mom decided to give up and complete it on Sunday.
She headed to Bibik's place and instructed me to go to Hougang on the Sunday morning.

This is how the Cili2 looks like before adding the sugar coating.
Went to meet Nian for dinner and we had our yakking session at King Albert's Park MacD. ♥

And when Sunday came, I cldn't slp after Sahur so I got ready to go to Bibik's place.
Took the train to YCK and boarded 72. Reached her place at almost 830am.
Bibik was about to begin her cake baking. I was told by mom to help her.
But little did we know Bibik was trying to teach me on how to bake Kek Gulung.
She was so enthu abt it that she has prepared 2 separate ingredients just to allow me to try one round and the other for the real baking.

Everything was done by 2pm and thankfully, Bro and Sis fetched me.
Otherwise I really cldn't imagine myself carrying the 13 rolls of cake to Vivo.
I was supposed to break-fast with Mr Gee but sadly the plan didn't really worked and we ended up meeting for less than 15mins at CCK. And worst, he had to break-fast alone at Lot 1. tSk.

And today happened to be Boss' Bday. Wanted to surprise her with the cake and presies ard lunch time instead of the usual tea break hr. But she caught us preparing to light the candle. Haha! Partner and I ended up shocked.

We're pretty confident that she liked the colorful Babi we got her.
We hope she liked the Icing Room cake which was cutely tied with the polka dot red ribbon!

And by the way you know that you are OLDER when a Freshie calls you Kak. (^__^)"

sWeet daRk tHotS...

What do ya know? Could almost smell the weekend NOW! Although there's still Fri to go through and that sadly I have no events this week. But it's gonna be the final weekend before Raya and thankfully, my baking is done and over with. Mom even wrapped up the oven to ban me from baking. And sometimes if not all the time I feel that Mom is a SuperWoman. She cld do the laundry, go to the mkt, prepare Mee Bandung and Talam Berlauk for break-fast and even make her all-time fave giveaway for Hari Raya, Rempenyek. And the quantity is horrific.
She managed to complete those to be given to 3 Obeks and half for our own which I bet she will ambitiously continue to make ours full tupperware by tomorrow.
GoSH! I wish I'm 20% smangat like her.

All three nicely stacked up on the dining table.
Purposely awaiting my praises to her!
Oh shoot! Supposed to tape those rims for her.. Hee.

A student dropped by the office to assist me in expanding the waistline.
A huge pack of Dark Hershey kisses. :D
Making my job all worthwhile and much appreciated.
Well, thank You.

Shortie returned Mom's recipe book with a choc bar from Ikea.
That's something NEW! For once I thot it was a bar to be melted for cookie-baking.
GEEZ!

And when almost evening came, Shortie asked me to read a note.
It was damn long and I have short-span attention.
So I got it printed and read it on the ride home.

How to know When a Man Loves You. (At your own discretion pls)
------------------------------------------

Because of the nature of human, and the way in which we are created, it is often difficult for us to know exactly when our partners truly love us or not however, certain modalities stand as a good test of how much love our partners have for us at a given time and circumstance. I know quiet sure that sometimes in our lives, we are stocked in the middle of a relationship, not knowing what to do, whether to move front or to go back, our mind is just confused on what to do. It may be as a result of insecurity of the mind, not knowing exactly if our partner loves us or not.

One obvious sign is that, if a guy loves you, his dressing style must change to your favorites. Now examine this little change, before you met him, how does he normally dress? Is he a guy that cares less about the way he dresses? Is he a type that just put on whatever he sees, in the name of wearing a cloth? If yes, then how much has this dressing habit changed since your relationship with him? Is his dressing style now okay and impressive, both to you and your friends who used to complain of his dressing mode in the past?
(this is scary cos mR gEE got this sudden urge to change his dressing and wanting to grab a new Tee every mth or so)

Secondly, how often does he like or enjoy glancing at you, when may be you are not looking at him or not aware? If a guy likes you, he will always like to steal some look at you, when you are not aware, which you may often catch him doing, and if may be, you caught his eyes, does he normally shift his to avoid you knowing that he was looking at you? This is another good sign of knowing that a guy loves you, or is admiring you.
(well he used to do it but now we're more focused in observing others. haha)

Thirdly, how often is he ready to help you out, whenever you get entrapped in a particular sort of trouble, does he sit back and just watch you suffer in pains or does he offer his hand for help; a good sign of love.
(well the time the pipe got burst, he CALLed me up instead of just bb-ing me while I almost drown in my own tank) *exaggeration Alert

Another way to know if a guy loves you, is to watch how he enjoys communicating with you. Guys love chatting with people they love, especially the opposite sex, as a fact, a guy that loves you, will always love to discuss one thing or the other with you. He will like to share with you, stories and events that took place while you weren’t around.
(yah all those boring stories about his work and school..hAhA)

Remember, if a guy loves you, he likes or loves to chat with you just the same way he chats with his best male friends, he uses slang, jargons and all the usual words he uses when chatting with his best friends, except, the rude ones.
(Sadly, sometimes he forgotten that I'm actually a GIRL)

Again, how does he feel for your moods? Is he happy when you are happy? Or does he try to flame up your anger whenever he notices that you are angry? If he does, that is a bad sign, may be he does not love you, it may be a like. Don’t forget a guy that loves you, would do anything within his reach to make you happy.
(Amazingly he knows when I'm PISSED even via bb..
Or probably I'm just that obvious)

And the final piece of advice:

In conclusion, a guy that loves you, will always talk and boost about you, even when he is with his friends, he is trying to raise issues concerning ladies, just to throw in something about you. Therefore, do your best and get more acquainted with his best friends, to enable you learn more about him and how much he loves you, his friends are your best tool, get close to them.
(HX, HERE I COME! HAHA)

But of course none of the above matters much.
If you are a girl, use your instincts and gut feelings.
Cos most of the time it won't Fail you.
And LOVE takes alot of effort, courage and Fate.
